Overall
Your privacy while visiting our site is important to us. Because we gather certain types of information about the users of our site, we feel you should fully understand the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information. This privacy statement discloses what information we gather, how we use it, and how to correct or change it.
Unless otherwise noted in this privacy statement, the Ad Council does not give, sell or rent individual user information collected on our site to any third party.
Cookies
The Ad Council currently does not use cookies on the adcouncil.org and adcouncilcreative.org sites. A cookie is a small data file that certain Web sites write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information that the site uses to track the pages you have visited. The only personal information associated with a cookie is the information you supply yourself, such as in the opt in to receive emails or other information. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. You can refuse cookies by turning cookies off in your browser.
Information Collected and Stored Automatically
As you browse through the Web site, read pages, or download information, we may gather and store certain information about your visit automatically. This information does not identify you personally. We may automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit:
The Internet domain (for example, "xcompany.com" if you use a private Internet access account, or "yourschool.edu" if you connect from a university's domain) and IP address (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you are surfing the Web) from which you access our Web site; the type of browser and operating system used to access our site; the date and time you access our site; the pages you visit; and if you linked to the Ad Council site from another Web site, the address of that Web site.
We use this information to help us make our site more useful to visitors -- to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology our visitors use. We do not track or record information about individuals and their visits.
If you choose to provide us with additional information about yourself through an e-mail message, form, survey, etc., we will only maintain the information as long as needed to respond to your question or to fulfill the stated purpose of the communication.
The Ad Council does not disclose, give, sell or transfer any personal information about our visitors, unless required for law enforcement or statute.
